Castor Oil....
So DH and I decided to do the oil thing since nothing else seemed to be working....
Ok so it was absolutely GROSS!! I knew it wouldn't be pleasant, but come on! It better work!!!!! So now i'm sitting here waiting for all the bad side effects and hopefully contractions......

I made a Castor Oil Cocktail.... it was 2 oz of the oil and 2 oz of OJ... it was the most nasty thing ever... but i'm starting to feel a little crampy and i'm praying it works!!! Dh and I are desperate to meet our little princess before he deploys and I know my SIL (DottieMcHugh) is dieing to see her GODDAUGHTER!!!

Did you tell your doctor you were doing this? It's a pretty controversial method and could really cause some bad complications......

Yes my Dr and midwife were aware, they were the ones who suggested it and told me how much to take. I'm closely being monitored by them and I will see them tomorrow/wednesday/ friday this week.

I did it for DS and I always hate when people respond like this "pretty controversial method" What does that even mean.....
Took it for my DS a bit of a different cockail mine had icecream and some sprite in it as well and well I had him about 14 hours later. 3 of which I pushed and then I had a vac extration no mercuniam (sp) for DD I had an extremely fast labor tons of mercuniam... And I know a few other women on this board whose babies passed it as well and it had nothing to do with castor oil!
I know your reasons for taking it which were the same for me with DS I wanted my son to meet his Dad before he left. I hope your baby comes very soon!

Oh boy, I did this. Probably the worst thing I have ever tasated, EVER lol. DH and I were at home 2 days after my EDD and my girlfriend told me to try it, so I sent him out to find it at 11pm at night. He came home 2 hours later (yes at 1am) after finally finding a 24 hour walgreens. I drank it, forget with what, and it almost came right back up 
I did get some pretty bad cramping the next day, lost some fluid and then had to go to the hospital, then they sent me home lol.
BUT on a better note, the following day I went into labor. I do think it may have had something to do with it, but I wont be doing that again next time thats for sure

the pharmacologist in me was curious... what IS castor oil, anyway? heh, come to find out that as long as it's food grade, it's pretty harmless, and it's just a simple oil extract from a seed... and is actually related to a substance I use in the lab (cremaphor).
I wonder how the heck it works to induce labor Probably just lubes up your GI tract and gets a lot of muscles moving to help your intestine evacuate? dunno
sorry, I digress....
I really hope it works for you! I really really hope your DH is there when you're in labor!!!!

You're right... it is supposed to causeyour GI muscles to contract, which in turn is supposed to make your uterus contract as well. It comes from castor seeds. Hoepfully it works. I took it yesterday morning and have been having mild contractions since then. Maybe now with all my walking and stuff, it will move things along!

Yup! Castor Oil stimulates the GI tract, usually you end up "cleaning out" and in return the stimulation fo the GI tract can help to trigger contractions.
