Can I take echinacea?

Has anyone doctor approved-disapproved of them taking echinacea? I am starting to get a cold & usually a couple of doses of echinacea help me feel better.

Re: Can I take echinacea?

avoid everything herbal..... there's no regulation of them, and not a lot of safety studies either. the 'dose' could vary 10 fold between products, so Dr's would find it difficult to determine if it's safe or not....

feel better!

Re: Can I take echinacea?

Thanks for all of your feedback. I did not and will not take it.....I guess I just have to suk it up. I mean it is just a cold but I just thought I could try to nip it in the bud.

Thanks for your well wishes.Chat Icon

I know..that is my magic cocktail when I feel a cold coming on. I hate that I cannot even take the Ricola I like b/c of the echinacea.Chat Icon

The only "herbal" thing she told me was ok (and unfortunatley not cold-related) was acidophillus and probiotics.
