So sweet but not necessary
My father gave DH and I an envelope yesterday that had $500 in it for IVF.  
DH and I are going to call him today again and thank him but tell him it is not necessary. We feel really bad accepting it. I want to tell him that I would rather him keep that $ and give it to his future grandchild's college fund or something. DH wants to say that while we appreciate it, its not necessary but if the first go around of IVF does not work, we would like to use it toward a FET.
WWYD? My heart is breaking.

Honestly, it is for your father's future grandchild I would accept it and take your father out to dinner as thanks. Its so sweet he wants to show his support like that.

7  Daddies like to help their children in any way they can. I know it's breaking my dad's heart that there's nothing he can do to help us, except financially, and he does in any way that he can.

Thanks everyone.
I spoke to my dad and thanked him again. He said this is what we need the money for right now, he would give the $ for college or whatever for the child when THAT was needed. Am I making sense? In any case, I feel a little bit better about it. Still sad that I need it in the first place though....

I think our family wants to do something to feel like they are helping and are a part of this. i think the money is a small token of how they feel

Ditto to all the above! I know in my case, my mother felt somehow "responsible" for my fertility issues and tried to help out anyway she could as well. What a great gesture on your dad's part.
