Throwing my own shower... Craziness
Well my mom has decided she doesnt want to to throw the shower because she feels there are so many rules and politics and that it would be a good idea for my MIL to do. SO i told my mother in law and she said "NO thank you not interested...." Are you kidding me? well i am not gonna fight about it anymore with them they just need to grow up. So i guess i will be planning my own shower. KInda of wierd but oh well im sure it has been done before.

Don't feel bad, IF I have a shower (I am still undecided) I will be throwing it for myself. My Mom doesn't have the cash to throw one and my sisters and SIL DO NOT get along. I figure this way I can have it the way I want it, though it is a tiny bit stressful to plan a shower 6 months pregnant, which is why I may forgo the entire thing.

Sorry to hear this. I'm sure one of your friends will do something for you. My mom passed away and my MIL would be the same way w/ throwing me a baby shower (She had no interest in contributing to my bridal shower).
BTW, no I don't think its weird to throw your own shower.

I am planning my own shower but my mother is the one paying for it. My mother is not the "planning type of person" & my older sister said she is not planning me one because no one ever threw her one. Mind you, she was a teenage mother when she had her 1st baby & my mother & her MIL bought here everything she needed. She is just mad because I did everything the right way (long story). I feel she should not feel that way about my shower, becuase her not having a shower is not my fault I was only 13 at the time.
Anyway my MIL passed away very early in DH & I reletionship. My best friend thinks we have plenty of time to plana shower because I am not due until 12/8. HELLO!!! That is only 11 weeks from now!!! If I waited on her I would hav ended up with nothing.
So I decided to take matters into my own hands & started planning. My mother & I booked the location last week & invitations went out this past week.

What about your husband? Maybe he could help and take care of most of it for you so your not stressed. You shouldn't have to plan your own shower and you should tell your mother and MIL to grow the F up!!!!
