those who have done IUI
sorry for the fake screen name ..... but we haven't told too many peope we are working with the RE.
Regarding IUI, what is the process? at the last appt. with the RE they prescribed clomid and told us they would do IUI this cycle, how did they determine the date of your IUI, etc.
I am so confused.....
I have an appt. next week to discuss but I was wondering what was the process you and DH followed?
TIA

Re: those who have done IUI
Well they did a bunch of sono's to determine the follicle size and make sure everything is okay. They also took blood to see if I was surging. But mostly I used the OPK's and called them when I got a positive. The IUI was done the next morning.
Good luck

Re: those who have done IUI
We had a sono and when they saw a mature follicle they gave me a trigger shot to ensure that my egg dropped. I had the trigger shot on a Tues. morning, they had me use OPK's starting that afternoon, I started to surge that day, Wed. morning sill got a strong + with the OPK, DH went in at 8am Wed. to drop off a sample and I went in at 9am for the IUI. I am 38w2d pregnant!! Good luck to you!!!

Re: those who have done IUI
As the OP's have said - they will monitor you with IUI's and bloodwork in the mornings (some RE's will have you use an OPK at home). Once they see either a surge in your blood to indicate ovulation or a mature follicle where they will give you an HCG shot to trigger ovulation they will set you up for either one or two IUI's. The IUI itself is very simple, drop off sample, wait for it to be cleaned(generally an hour or so) and then go in for the IUI. The actual IUI is a process where they insert a catheter with your DH's semen into your uterus through your cervix. They then inject the semen. It's a very simple process and should take less than five minutes.
Good luck!!!

Re: those who have done IUI
They will monitor you w/ bloodwork and sono's. I just went Friday (cd8) for an internal sono to see how my follicles were measuring and I guess they were measuring a little small b/c the doc started me on another round of clomid that day for another 5 days. I go back Tuesday for another internal, blood and an HSG.
Once they determine through the bloodwork and sono's that the follies are mature they will give you a trigger shot to release the egg and then schedule you for the IUI. I know w/ my doc my husband will go in and give them his sample they will wash it and about an hour later will do the IUI on me.
Good luck
