? about ob/gyn and hosp affiliation
hi, i have a question that may be a silly one. when a dr is affiliated with a certain hospital, does that mean they can only deliver babies there? and are you guaranteed that your dr will deliver u? thanks!

Yes, your Dr. can only deliver where they are affiliated.
Depending on the practice you go to, there is always a chance your doctor will not be the one delivering your baby.
Where I go, there are 6 doctors, I have to see them all at least once during my pregnancy. Whatever doctor is on call the day/night I go into labor, is the doctor that will deliver me.
However, my Dr. did assure me that they usually end up delivering their own paitents, more often than not.

Yes, they will deliver the baby at the hospital they're affiliated with... as for the other question... your Dr usually would do the delivery, but sometimes in a big practice someone else may do it. I guess it depends on his group and the hospital.

i see a doctor that is the only one in the office... he has backups from other practices from when he is not avail.... you can never guarantee your doctor wont be on vacation/family emergency etc... when its your time to deliver
