Going to the RE today and I have a ?
Is it likely that he'll let me skip the Clomid and go straight to injectibles- considering the side effects are almost unbearable? I'm almost afraid to ask- I don't want to look stupid...

I always cringe a little when I see these sorts of posts. Have you done your research on injectibles? Do you feel you know what is best for YOUR body? If the answers are yes and you can be firm with your Dr I don't see that he would have an issue with that. We all need to be our own advocates

All I know really is what I have read on here. That for most people there are little to no side effects and there could be an elevated risk for hyperstimulation and the success rates are a bit higher.
I could be wrong, but that is why I was planning on asking the doctor.

The Clomid wasn't fun, but neither are the injectables. While the Clomid didn't work for me, I would try it again first. Mood swings, hot flashes and all.
Good luck. What happened?

Re: Going to the RE today and I have a ?
i did 2 cycles with clomid and 2 cycles with injectables which s a common practice for unexplained IF. I hated clomid and the injectables are somewhat easy (my heroin habit came in handy ) I had no side effects and now that i'm doing ivf it gotme use to the meds.
I was worried about the risk ofmultiples with injectables considering I would not selective reduce.
hoping for the best!

I did 2 rounds of Clomid and couldn't bear the side effects. I felt better on injections but developed cysts, hyperstimulated one month, and worried like crazy about multiples. I feel your pain! IVF ended up being the answer for me. Best of luck!

I did one round of Clomid. I had terrible side effects including hives and mood swings. It also didn't do anything to stimulate me. My doctor had me move to injectibles right after.
Don't be afraid of the injectibles. All meds carry a risks regardless of the form they are in (pill or shot). The needles are pretty easy to work with and barely cause a pinch.

Re: Going to the RE today and I have a ?
My RE left it in my hands to make that decision, and gave me all the information we needed to make a decision. A good RE won't tell you which way to proceed definitely, but will just lay out all your options, with the pros and cons.
I opted to go straight to injectables after my clomid cycle because I had a very unusual response. I didn't want to endure all the symptoms, all the time, and emotions with going through it again.
You should definitely do your research, or ask your RE for more information.

Thanks for your input. Do you have PCOS? Did it work for you?
My RE and I have decided it would be best to do injectibles. He wanted to do IVF- but I don't have the money- so we will see how I respond for a while.
