Re: Hi, my name is...
I hate to say it Barney, but I've had swollen feet, ankles and legs since I was 16 weeks; before the heat of summer came!! I hope for your sake the swelling goes down but I think it also has a lot to do with standing on your feet all day. Try to sit as much as possible!! Feel better!! Drink lots of water too!

Re: Hi, my name is...
Oh that totally stinks!! I would definately try and sit as much as you can during class and then on your off periods put them UP! I haven't had on real shoes in months so I have no idea what mine would do if they were confined

Sorry dear, but the feet thing doesnt go away (at least for me) until a bit after arrives....I actually had to buy a pair of the ugliest, most comfortable shoes I've ever worn in my life in a size bigger at K-Mart when I had DS All well worth it in the end though

Re: Hi, my name is...
I was in a decent outfit and sneakers today b/c my feet hurt so much after the first few days. I think this will be it until arrives.

I felt the same way today. By 6th period, i was in my old navy plastic flip flops, and I didn't care! It is so hard to sit thought, when you have 30 10th graders of questionable behavioral patterns in one room!

Re: Hi, my name is...
I'm with you. My feet and ankles get obnoxiously bad if I'm on them too long. I do sit at a desk, but I'm also very active around the office with meetings and such.
ELEVATE AT NIGHT - ABOVE YOUR HEART. That helps me. Before bed, my feel return to normal.
Drink tons of water.
My Dr says to try natural diuretics like melon and grapefruit. Here are some more I just found:
Natural foods with high water content such as watermelons and cucumbers help increase urination and better flushing out of toxins. Cucumbers are rich in sulfur and silicon that stimulate the kidneys into better removal of uric acid. Watercress and artichokes are also natural diuretic foods.
Asparagus contains asparigine - a chemical alkaloid that boosts kidney performance, thereby improving waste removal from the body.
Brussel Spouts help in stimulating the kidneys and pancreas. This helps in better cleansing of cells.
Beets are natural diuretic foods that attack floating body fats and fatty deposits.
Oats contain silica - a natural diuretic.
Cabbage is known to aid breakage of fatty deposits, especially around the abdominal region.
Carrots are a rich source of carotene that speeds the metabolic rate of the body and hastens removal of fat deposits and waste.
Lettuce aids better metabolism and flushing of toxins.
Tomatoes are rich in Vitamin C that aid the metabolism and release of water from the kidney to flush out waste.

Re: Hi, my name is...
Awww Barney I'm sorry!!! I escaped the hobbit feet until this week, they're only a little swollen tonight, just because I was running around all day today in the heat outside.
to all of you teachers on here, you must feel SO TIRED from being on your feet all day!!!
I have one of those foot bath massaey bubbly thingies, its WONDERFUL at the end of a long day to pop those tootsies into cool water and just let them swoosh around. Try it, it might help a little bit??????

I thought you were going to say your name was Slim Shady!
So sorry you're swelling so badly. Try to keep your feet elevated as much as you can and make sure you drink a ton of water.

Re: Hi, my name is...
I have officially left the hominid category.... I'm in pacoderm land
At a very ungraceful 36.5 weeks, I officially can ONLY wear flip flops. the tops of my feet are so swollen that they feel tight and tender.
By the end of the day, my flip flops actually make INDENTATIONS in my fluffy feet
Sleeping only on your left side also helps... my feet were really doing well until about 34 weeks.
