Re: Stupid Question

The luteal phase is the time after ovulation to the day you start your period. The only way to know for sure how long the luteal phase is by pinpointing the day of ovulation. Once you find out exactly the day of ovulation, then you can count from then on, to the day the period arrives, and that is the length of the luteal phase.

Re: Stupid Question

Thanks Ladies. I saw in another post that she was trying to extend her Lutheal Phase. How can you extend it? By extending it, it doesn't make you ovulate longer does it?

Your LP should be about 12-14 days, anything less than 12 days could be a potential issue with progesterone. Progesterone is very important in early pregnancy as it helps to sustain the pregnancy until the placenta takes over.

It should be at least 10 for implanation to take place. I've found in 2 years of trying to get pregnant and a year of fertility treatments, the Drs. (at least at my RE practice) would say anything less than 12 would be treated as a short LP. I personally didn't have that problem since the only LP's I had were on medicated cycles, so they were always 14 days.
