may be TMI but can someone please explain....
I've read a few other girls saying how they had clotting issues. What is that exactly? Does it refer to clotting like blood clots when you get AF? Sorry for TMI

it's not TMI, don't worry.
I have MTHFR F5...i take extra folic acid and if(when?) I become pregnant again, i will have to go on lovenox (a blood thinner) to prevent blood clots while I'm pregnant.
you can be tested for this, it's a simple blood test.

Thanks so much for your response ? So if I get lots of clots during AF do you think this is an indicator that I should be tested for this?

The blood clotting issues that people talk about on here are not related to what you see during AF. If a woman has certain blood clotting factors, she can experience miscarriages because blood supply to the fetus is impaired. I was tested by a hematologist that my RE referred me to after I experienced 2 miscarriages.

Re: may be TMI but can someone please explain....
If you have already lost one pregnancy, I would insist with the RE to have the test, it's a blood test and it's not a big deal. After my M/C last year, (1st), my RE sent me for the test and we found out I was + for MTHFR. I was furious with him b/c when I asked if it could've been a factor in my m/c he said yes. I felt like the blood test could've been done when he was sending me for all of the other blood work and poking & proding I did. He said it wasn't part of the normal protocol and they usually wait for 2 m/c but b/c of my age, they didn't wait. WHY would you wait for someone to have a m/c before doing this test.
My point to him was that since I to have the HSG and all of the other INVASIVE stuff, why not a blood test. I understand it's not part of the protocol, but maybe it should be.

I feel exactly the same way!!! I've heard other people say that they didnt have certain tests done until after the 2nd m/c. WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU MAKE A WOMAN ENDURE THAT PAIN TWICE?!?!?!? I will insist my RE does this test next time I see them. I just got my first period 2 days ago...first one since my m/c. So next month when I go back I will be armed with more info!! Thanks again
