Trying to figure out when I "O"
But Im unsure of my avg cycle length...
Ive always been on the pill- so that's 28 days-right??? (however every month its give or take a day)
Also- Im clueless on what a luteal phase is...???
My last AF was 8/12- so 8/26 is the expected "o" date- does that sound right?
I know I should prob just buy the ovulation kit... but given the above info when should we be BDing?

I am no pro, but I can tell you that the luteal phase is the number of days between ovulation and when AF arrives. The average LP is 12-14 days, but under 10 days is considered "short" and not ideal for conceiving.

Welcome! 
You really can't go by how your cycles were on the pill since your AF's arrival was being controlled by the birth control.
How long have you been off bcp?

everything changes once you go off the pill.
there is no guarantee that you WILL ovulate at all.

Also-
Is it worth it to buy an ovulation kit?
How exactly does it work?
My 1st DC was a surprise- so Im not really sure how to "try"

If it's your first month, try BDing every day after your period ends until you think your next period is due.
When you come off bcp, your body needs time to adjust so as Jess mentioned, there is no guarantee as to if and when you will ovulate.

What day of your cycle are you on?
If you want to use OPKs this month, I'd suggest starting on CD 10 (10 days after your period started).
