I finally made the call. ETA a question?

I have my first appointment with the RE on Sept 10th. I'm happy to get the ball rolling, but I still can't believe that it's come to this. I guess no one thinks that they're going to be the ones to go through it. It's alot to take in.

ETAsk:

Did you DH go with you to your first appointment? They told me DH didn't need to come, but I'd love to hear feedback on this.

I went to my first appt with RE on Aug 7 and asked my DH to come-- afterward he thought it was pointless for him to be there, but i was glad to have him there to be another pair of ears..

Oh good for you. I think making that call is the hardest part. I switched RE's 3 times. DH only came with me once (the new one we just started with). I was find without him there, but it was nice to have someone there with me. Good luck, I hope they get you pregnant fast.

dave will be coming with me. i made the appointment specifically on his day off for that reason.

the woman i spoke to said they suggest the partner comes - but it's not required.

I know how hard it is to make that call.

I had my first RE appointment today. DH came with me and I'm glad he did. He and I met with the doctor for the medical history and then at the end, the nurse sat with us both to go over all of the tests we are going to do next. He sat outside though while I had blood taken, was examined and had a sonogram. It wasn't critical that he be there, but I think you should try to bring DH if you can.

Thank you I think DH assumed that we would be going together, so when I told him I was going to go alone he wanted to make sure that was fine. I told him not to worry, there will be plenty of appointments for him down the line.

I know how hard it is to make that call and how dis-heartening it can be. My ob/gyn referred me after only 1 appt. w/ her so I knew something was wrong.

It is good that you are going b/c his/her main job is to get you pregnant.

I had my first appt. w/ an RE last Friday. I made the appt. right away as soon as we started TTC b/c I had a feeling something was wrong w/ my body b/c I have a very irregular cycle and low and behold I have PCOS.

DH didn't come w/ me which was fine b/c when I am nervous I am a super b!tch. The doc sat w/ me for a little while to get a history and then did an internal sono and then took about 12 vials of blood for testing.

when I went for my first appointment they told me my DH needed to be there. He would have been there with me regardless though.

Good Luck! Prepare for a long appointment. And yes, DH did go with me. That is kind of the "game plan" appointment and it is good to have him there. Plus they did some blood work on him. It is just good to have two sets of ears since there is sooo much info and it is good for both of you to hear it first hand.

DH came with me, and I'm glad he did. The dr. asked him questions too, and took a medical history as well.

At my first RE appointment I was also told my DH needed to come. The RE took medical information from me and then DH. He explained everything and what the course of action would be. I think your DH should go - you are in this together. Also, as other women have said another pair of ears is always good.

Yes, DH came with me. we both had our blood drawn to screen for hepatitis, HIV, etc. I felt it was important for him to be there as it made DH a part of what what happening to both of us

I think it's kind of important for them to come because they usually get both of your medical histories that day. DH comes even if just to wait with me whenever he can.

They told me to bring DH to my first appointment, too. I scheduled it purposefully so he could come.

DH came and I'm glad he did. We talked about so many things and I was overwhelmed, it was a good chance to have some other ears there to catch some things I forgot the RE said.

First off, welcome. Going to a RE is a hard step but try to think of it as getting proactive and improving your chances of getting PG. My DH went with me to the first appointment for moral support and also to give information regarding his medical history. I told DH that IF is a couples issue and I wanted him involved from the beginning.

DH went with me to every RE appointment. It was required that he be with me that day. They took a complete medical history from both of us and also took a whole bunch of blood from both of us. We also knew that we were dealing with MF.
