Prenatal Vitamins
DH and I were talking last night. Everyone is telling us to take prenatal vitamins while TTC. We made an appt for the Dr.but they can't see me til Sept 22nd. Thats over a month away. DH thinks i should go to the store and just buy the store brand. Are they pretty much the same as the one the Dr. Prescribes? TIA!

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
i don't know the answer to if they are the same - but i take Target Prenatals. I have a very sensitive stomach and they are good for me!
I think the key is in the amount of Folic Acid in them.

You're very welcome!
I take them with dinner personally..
Make sure you take them with your biggest meal of the day - this way they won't bother your stomach!

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
my dr. said not to worry about taking them until i get my BFP so long as i get enough folic acid. i definitely wouldn't worry about it so long as you are getting that

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
My friend is a pharmacist and she said the main difference between the OTC and prescription ones are the OTC have less iron in them. As long as you are getting folic acid, you are fine.
I actually just continued taking my multi-vitamin along with a folic acid supplement when TTC DD.

I take the Target brand (at night -- so I don't have to worry about taking them with food) and my Dr. was just fine with that.

Re: Prenatal Vitamins
When I spoke to my doctor about TTC, she recommended I take a regular multivitamin (400 mcg of folic acid) at least 3 months before TTC. I switched to CVS brand prenatals (800 mcg of folic acid) when I got my BFP.

thanks! my multi-vit already has 400mcg, so i would just get a supplement folic acid for the remaining 400?
is there a difference between prenatal and regular multi-vits? is it just the level of folic acid?
