Photocopying while pregnant
I just found out I have to go into work before school starts to do A LOT of copying for my program. Is it safe to be using a copy machine very early in pregnancy (6w)?

Re: Photocopying while pregnant
It is only a problem if you are sitting on the copy machine making photocopies of "unmentionables."
I tried that last week and at 37 weeks, it was really hard to hoist myself up and down from the Xerox.

Sorry if the question was dumb. I am still new to all of this and wasn't sure if it would be a problem.

Don't worry. I remember I was afraid to cough and sneeze when I first got my BFP.
My dr. gave me some good advice, he told me to remember that pregnancies are pretty hearty and that the baby is well protected inside of the womb. As long as you are not drinking, smoking, doing drugs etc., you and your little one will be perfectly fine!

Please don't ever feel dumb. You want to do what's best for your baby--ESPECIALLY after all you've been through.
I do think the tone of some of these responses was a little bit uncalled for...
But yeah, I'm starting back to school this week and I know my days are going to be filled by the joys of photocopying. I wouldn't worry about it--but if you are, ask your OB

Re: Photocopying while pregnant
don't feel dumb!!! I don't think it's a dumb question at all, some of these responses are uncalled for. I asked to have the printer moved off my desk because I was worried about that while pregnant, and some ppl thought I was crazy, but too bad for them
eta if I had a lot of photocopies to make I wouldn't stand right on top of the machine while they were being made, but that's just me

No worries sweetpea! You'll be fine. Just don't lift large piles of copies when you're done. Ask a coworker to help ya out!

Re: Photocopying while pregnant
It wasn't a dumb question, you SHOULD be thinking these things and asking these questions. And breathing in fumes from a printer isn't a good thing overall. My friend has asthma and her lung specialist wanted the large printer moved away from her desk (not pg related but still). So obviously, large printers do give off fumes.
I would make sure if you personally have to do a LOT, make sure the area is well ventilated. You asked a very good question and please don't stop asking questions such as these. Many of us had these same questions as you and STILL DO. There is NO dumb question when you are pg and want to protect your unborn child.
