haven't posted here in a while but hoping you can help* update after today's sono*

i'm on my first (and hopefully last) clomid cycle. today i had my sono day 12 and bloodwork done. she says my follicles are 20, 13, and 14, "not quite ready and lining
is a bit too thin yet".
so she wants me to repeat the sono tomorrow morning then trigger tomorrow night for IUI on friday. (i am going away on saturday) i'm discouraged. i feel like i might have taken the clomid for nothing. Chat Icon do you think i'm right?
the "natural" way is out for us.. we both have antisperm antibody and severe male factor. Chat Icon not that we won't try!Chat Icon
does anyone have any insight for me?

ETA: had another sono this morning. Follicles grew to 23 and 16. uterine lining is 9.. i'm going to have hcg shot tonight and iui on friday.. do my numbers look ok??Chat Icon

why are you discouraged? You have 3 good follies. The 20 is already mature - and with one more day and the trigger one of the others might get there too.

Re: haven't posted here in a while but hoping you can help

Is there anyway you can postpone your trip if necessary. Even if you go later on Saturday?
If not, the follicle is mature enough - your lining is the onlly issue and it depends on where it is. If it's at 9-11 then it's probably fine, but if it's less it will be harder for implantation.
In general IUI's increase your chances by about 20% from natural and most people have to do more than one IUI.
Even if you don't get PG this cycle, you DO know that the Clomid works and you are getting multiple follicles - so it definitely isn't a waste of time.

I am not sure what your concern is. If you have your IUI on Friday and are going away on Saturday there should be no problem with timing. Best of luck!

Re: haven't posted here in a while but hoping you can help

Ovulation typically occurs 24-36 hours after the trigger.

So, if you trigger Wednesday night you will probably ovulate sometime during the wee hours of the morning Friday morning (my RE has told me research shows most women ovulate in the early morning hours, like 3am). In which case, your Friday IUI would be timed perfectly Chat Icon

If you have flights booked...then don't worry. They are obviously aware of the situation and doing the IUI on Friday...triggering on Wednesday is the best timing.

This is your first on Clomid though, so you now know the Clomid works.Chat Icon
