chlorinated pools and pregancy
We have a pool for our 20 month old son and my DH put chlorine in to have the water last longer for us since he is away about 3-4 days a week. So my Mom is freaking out because my DH didn't test it and she is worried I will get sick like a yeast infection and have trouble since I am 22 weeks pregnant. Anyone ever heard of such a thing? Or experienced or had a friend experience it?

You re safe to swim!!! Swimming is good for you and the baby, even if the water is chlorinated. Not that I wish it apon anyone pregnant person, but yeast infections are common. If you were to get one, it wouldn't be the end of the world. But, you wouldn't get a yeast infection from the chlorine. You'd be more likely to get it from sitting in a wet baithing suit for hours AFTER swimming.

It is perfectly fine to swim in. But not if it is indoors. I wanted to take swimming lessons with DS but I was told no because the smell is too much indoors.

Its fine! And a yeast infection is not likely to come from the pool - they are common in the summer from sitting around in a wet bathing suit, so just make sure you change into dry underwear after swimming!

In addition to the comments from the other girls, which I totally agree with, there is the consideration that chlorinated water is so much safer for you to be in than water in which bacteria is allowed to thrive.

There are quick tests to buy at any pool store to test the water.
As for swimming: I swam almost a mile every day through the first trimester, which became less in the second trimester. In the third trimester I just LOVED to float and water walk!
I had a c-section and got back into the water less than 2 months after having DS.
