how would you react to this...
my mom booked a week long cruise with her boyfriend for 2 weeks after my baby is to be born.
On top of that, when my daughter was 2 weeks old she had to be in the PICU for a week because she stopped breathing.
She doesnt understand why I am upset. I am wondering if I am wrong to be.

Are you guys close? Were you counting on her help?
I personally wouldn't care but that is in my circumstances given my relationship with my mother. I can definitely understand being a little bit disappointed that she didn't plan the timing better.

Im VERY close to my mom and would not care if she did that. that may be just me. By then I will be looking for her to go home and let me rest.

I'd be disappointed but I don't think I could say anything to her. It's my baby and my life "event" and I couldn't really expect her to put her life on hold for me.
But like I said I'd be upset inside!

I wouldn't expect any less of my mother
You'll be fine. It is very anxiety provoking at first but you'll have other supports. You'll be surprised how fast you work out a system.
Remember how DH stated he couldn't wait to just sit around watching baseball holding a newborn. Well...

My mom planned a trip out of the country two weeks after my due date. She didn't even realize, she will be postponing this trip.

i would be very upset, and my mom knows it. she is planning some of her vacation this year around when  is supposed to arrive.
