Need everyones opinion (long)
OK, most of you know my story. I'm 40, 6 IUI's, 2 IVF's nothing. But after having an HSG last March 07 (before all those treatments), I got a BFP only to m/c 5 days after finding out. So, my new RE is sending me for another HSG this week. I have honestly been wanting to go for another one to see if anything might happen.
Here's my confusion part. I am going to Cornell and I have a tentative co-culture biopsy schedule for this cycle as well. (it is very difficult to get on this schedule, and I could still get kicked off the schedule - it could be 2 month before I'd get on it again). Which means I cannot attempt a natural pregnancy after the HSG. I am also set (if all goes well) to start my IVF cycle this cycle (going on estrogen patch a few days after co-culture) and doing IVF the next cycle.
Now I do not have the strength to cancel the co-culture and start of my next cycle to see if the HSG test will work again. But, in the back of my mind, I am wondering if I should. It would be a heck of a lot cheaper, but I don't even care about the money anymore.
Am I making any sense? Do i cancel everything and see if the HSG works again for us (meanwhile I don't even understand how it worked the first time b/c nothing has worked at all)? But, now that would put so much pressure on me thinking it would. But, if that doesn't work then It could be like November before I could cycle again at Cornell. But, what is time? I'm so confused.
I honestly took the "go with the flow" attitude this cycle. And so far I'm getting close to cycling at Cornell months before I thought I would. And if I just continue this way I will be doing it end of Aug/beg Sept. They have been pushing me through, not the other way around.
OK, another item I have in my head. Dr gave me 10% chance of this working for me and suggested I only try IVF one more time with my own eggs.
What do you all think? Should I just continue on schedule. And the other horrible part could be that they cancel my co-culture and I wont know until after I O.
Thanks, hope this was somewhat legible...LOL.
Its' like trying to find the right piece of the puzzle. Feel like I'm coming down to the end here and I want the best chance possible.

Re: Need everyones opion (long)
That is a toughie, and I would probably be going back and forth myself. However, I would give myself the best possible chance, and not put off cycling with Cornell, especially knowing my next chance could very well not be until November.

I wouldn't put off Cornell. If Cornell didn't work out, you could always try the HSG route again...but not being able to cycle with Cornell for months would be an issue for me. I know the situation is difficult, but HSG is always an option.

Re: Need everyones opion (long)
I would talk to his nurse about how solid the biopsy schedule is for you. Can you talk to them and walk this through with them?
It seems to me that the co-culture is really one medium you haven't tried and it could be the answer.
I know you mentioned that your other clinic did co-culture but not like Cornell..
To get pregnant during a natural cycle would be great, but you've gone this far.
Talk to the nurse or asst and see what the real schedule story is.

Actually the co-culture is only being done at Cornell (I did EPP in the past without co-culture). And the schedule is crazy. They only do 6 a day 2 times a week (tues/thurs). Its sort of first come first service basis. So, even though I got my appointment for it, if more people O before me, I could get bumped off. And it can only be done after you O. I think there is a time frame within that luteal phase also. So, there is nothing they can do for me. And co-culture ends for this cycle on Sept 24th and doesn't open again for a few weeks later. How is that for stress? Which is why I was going with the flow with the co-culture appt. I could have done it a week ago Friday (day after my appointment) but I was going on vacation that morning. Its all very crazy.

pray to the gods of co-culture. I think you should stick with Cornell's schedule and hope you get in there.
Wow that schedule is tight.

Re: Need everyones opion (long)
I would proceed with IVF as planned. The fact is, the HSG isn't a miracle bullet. Just because it worked last time, has no bearing on whether it will or will not work this time, and the truth is it may not have even had an impact on whether or not you conceived last time!
The hard facts show that IVF produces better results than trying on your own, even with an HSG. I would proceed with your IVF cycle, and if, god forbid, that doesn't work, then consider going back, doing an HSG, some acupuncture and trying on your own again, so at least if this IVF doesn't work, you STILL have a plan for after that

Thanks for listening to all my silliness (is that a word). OK, I am taking all your advice and I will continue as planned. Maybe the HSG will help the IVF work.

Re: Need everyones opinion (long)
I think definitely stick with Cornell. Do they have different schedules for co-culture in LI than in the city? Or is it all the same?

Co-culture is only done in NYC. LI is only for monitoring (I bet they do IUI in LI too).
