The ring is beautiful. I hope you enjoy it!

That being said, I really don't care what people think of the idea of getting a gift after having a baby. I want one. I got one. It is being shipped at the moment. It is nobody's damn business if my husband wants to buy a gift for me after 9 months of carrying a child. My body has been through a lot and frankly I deserve it. I am doubly blessed with a healthy child and a thoughtful husband.

But understand this, my husband will be receiving a gift as well. It is HIS child, with HIS name and HE should be celebrated as a father. If I am to receive a gift as I push, he can receive a gift to "catch." HE deserves something too.

If a person doesn't like the name "push present" too bad - they will get over it.

I think Ed deserves a Patience Present after going through 9 months of pregnancy with you! Is that what the Big TV was for?Chat Icon

I go back and forth on the "push present" idea. I think it's the name too, that irks me. I'll tell you what I don't have a problem with though....and THAT is having an excuse to get a nice gift from my thoughtful hubby.

OF COURSE the real gift is the baby...no question about that...but if DH wants to buy me something nice for the 9 mos of carrying his child, who am I to argue????Chat Icon

That being said - I just don't know what I want yet....

Nope!! I already told DH I want a Nikon D40, and I'm only 9 weeks. Though I can't call it a push present, because DH thinks that is ridiculious. We have both wanted this camera for awhile, and I figured having a baby was the best time to get one.

DH got me a very nice Digi SLR for my first mother's day. He was originally resistant since we had a nice digi cam, but once he saw how "off" the pictures were compared to the SLR, well he came around right quick.Chat Icon

Since we live a few hours away, we don't get to go that often. I probably went to my last game at Shea on Saturday. Chat Icon I think we got our money's worth though since it went 14 innings. Too bad they lost. I really hope we can take Chat Icon to a game next year although I don't think DH is too fond of the idea.

Try out a local minor league game first. This is what we did with DC and it was great!

nice ring!

I wanted the LV manhattan bag for my push present, but now , how the heck would I carry it around?! I need a shoulder bag. I can't think of anything else I want , so I don't think I will be asking for anything

The TV was a 50/50 venture to pacify the both of us. He is happily missing out on his Fantasy Football draft held this year in Austin, TX. He will also not be playing football in his league for another month until we have established a little bit of sanity here in Cheese Town, USA. With the addition of the TV, he will be able to enjoy what he would like to enjoy at home in between feedings, burping and vomit. G-d I love this man. (Roll your eyes all you want people, he already loves his child more than the pig skin). I would also like to have some non-baby related things to enjoy as well. Im going to be home for three months and when she is sleeping, I would like to be entertained as well.

I have ZERO issues with having spent a crap load money on anything before or after the baby comes. We are not rich by any means, but we are not poor either. We deserve to have nice things as much as our children do. Happy parents make for happy children. If it means I have to do a little tutoring to make up the difference in money lost so my kid can go to school, I will.

I have a very hard time believing that money we spend on gifts for each other NOW will make a dent in the cost of Ed-lie's education in EIGHTEEN YEARS. And yes, we already have decided upon how we will finance her education. DH is an analyst and is pretty efficient with money and savings. Or worst case scenario, she can pole dance her way through college like I (and Auntie Flatbread)did!

Re: Is it bad that I already know what I want my push present to be?

I love designer handbags, and always thought I would get a LV diaper bag as the push gift (if not from DH, I will gladly buy it for myself)... I'm now surprised that the extravagant things I used to want and have, doesn't mean as much to me anymore.

So i am not sure what push gift I want yet.. maybe a necklace with DC's initials or a diamond/birthstone eternity band to wear on the other hand.

I had never heard this expression until recently but the first time I heard it I thought, "wouldn't that be the baby?"

DH & i were talking about it & he said he was gonna get me a little present but I don't recall getting anything with my other 2...maybe flowers? I would love to come home and find my house immaculate and all my clutter magically disappeared!
