Dear Anemia (part 2),
After your little display of dramatics the other night, I heeded the doctor's advice and packed my body full of iron rich foods. All I have to say is that burgers and broccoli for dinner suck. They don't even hold a friggin candle to fried macs and cheese. Yeah Yeah I made life choices that left me this way but frankly I dont wanna hear it from you anymore. If you think I am going to take one more iron pill, you are sadly mistaken as I wish for my intestines NOT to implode.
Kisses, Leslie

Re: Dear Anemia (part 2),
yeah, that combo sounds a bit unusual....
with your small appetite, broc seems like a double-edged sword.... it's high in iron, but it's sooo filling!
wonder if there are beefy spinach dishes that will be a bit more satisfying (Spinach is comperable to broc in the iron dept, right ) I find spinach to be much less dense than broc in my stomach.......

Re: Dear Anemia (part 2),
I suppose I could mix the spinach in the chopped meat but then I may burn out the iron. Oh ya know what, this kid is going to get one good talking to when she is born.

Funny you should mention that. DH and I were to go to Peter Luger for my birthday this Sunday as we did last year. We were to have a big fat steak and creamed spinach and shrimp cocktail and just indulge in pure gluttony. But now since my itty bitty stomach has virtually no capacity for food - even the iron rich kind, we are deferring the meal until my uterus allows my organs some semblance of normalcy.

Re: Dear Anemia (part 2),
that's too bad that you have to defer that trip!
how about making it at home with a much smaller portion of steak for a few days? Then going for the real deal for your first 'date' with DH after Ed-lie arrives....
My birthday ritual includes a fudgy the whale cake from carvel with extra crunchies... I'd be super-sad right now (with my gestational diabetes) if I couldn't partake in at least something similar....

Amen to that! My nurse called me up and told me the other day my glucose test results and then proceeds to tell me that I am Anemic. Ummm yea no sh*t Shirlock. How much more iron can I choke down my throat as if the Repliva isn't bad enough, the loads of asparagus, broccoli and chick peas are getting tired!! I feel your pain girl!
