Re: At what point did you see a RE?
What they usually suggest is over 35, go after 6 months. Under 35, after one year. It takes the average couple 8 months to conceive.
But if you have a problem with cycles or anything like that, go right away. Don't waste time.
Not sure if this is for you, but either way, good luck

Re: At what point did you see a RE?
Over a year. We started trying in 8/04. Went to see an RE in 10/05. Then shelved it for a little while bc of stuff going on and then went back in 12/07. (Tried on and off in between).

Re: At what point did you see a RE?
While I knew immediately we were going to have problems, it took close to a year to see an RE. I needed to come to terms with what was going on and to be emotionally ready to make that move.

Re: At what point did you see a RE?
2 months!!!! and I am way under 35!!! had a gut feeling and I was right!!
Thank God I didn't wait because I would have wasted precious time....
It is a personal decision but my advice is: if you are ready for a family then don't wait...there are few simple tests that will tell you if there is anything wrong...
GL to you!

Re: At what point did you see a RE?
I am 41 and I only waited a few months. I wanted to find out if I had any issues. Turned out that my age was the biggest. Don't wait. Take the tests and get DH tested right away.
I wish I didn't wait this long to decide to start ttc.

Re: At what point did you see a RE?
I just had my first RE appointment yesterday. I am 28 and have been trying for a little less than a year. We began fertility testing through my ob-gyn (her suggestion) in our 8th month of trying. DH's SA came back normal, but my bloodwork had slightly elevated FSH levels. My ob-gyn thought we should move on to a RE and I felt like this would be my best option.

Re: At what point did you see a RE?
I went after about 6 months and 2 pregnancy losses. It took various Dr's 3 years to find out what was wrong with me. I was told b y one of my specialists that if you are doing everything right, and have no obvious issues, it should not take longer than 6 months to conceive. Meaning regular cycles, knowing when you O etc. If you think something is wrong there probably is and I would not delay.

Re: At what point did you see a RE?
1 year. However, I should have gone sooner because I wasn't ovulating and I knew it.

Re: At what point did you see a RE?
We started TTC in December got PG right away but it was ectopic. Had surgery in January to remove my left tube (the methotrexate shot didn't work). Waited for AF which took 2 months. Had HSG after (in late March) and found out right tube was clear. When I didn't get AF by May I said "that's it-I'm calling an RE" Even though my OBGYN advised me not to, that it was a waste. I'm glad I did bc I found out that I had a great egg reserve (very low FSH 2.7) but for some reason my hypothalmus was not communicating to my reproductive system and therefore, I wasn't ovulating. The doctor thinks I ovulate about 4 times a year. At 33, I just felt it was time to get aggressive.
My thought is, go with your gut. If you feel something isn't right, see someone that will listen to you and help you. Good luck!!

Re: At what point did you see a RE?
We had a seman analysis at 6 months and knew from then on we were dealing w/ MF. We didn't get our insurance straightened out for another 6 months and that's when we started w/ the RE.

Re: At what point did you see a RE?
I knew I wasnt ovulating as soon as I went of the pill and before we started trying. Once we started trying I stayed with my OBGYN to try clomid (they monitored very closely and were even going to do IUI at the office) BUT the clomid didnt work so off to RE we went.

Re: At what point did you see a RE?
I went after 9 months and after my OB said I'd need a specialist.
