Stupid Question re: BD

I have read a bunch of articles that say you should stay lying down for about 15-30 minutes after bd'ing but then I read that if you are prone to UTI's you should go to the bathroom right away.

Why would lying down increase the chances of you getting a UTI?

if you dont pee right away after sex.. you can get a UTI.. and it happened to me before..

we just discussed the topic of lying in bed... i believe the whatever needs to go up there it will... after that initial release

I am prone to UTI's thankfully i haven't gotten one in about 3 years, as soon as i feel that twinge I drink a glass of water with alka seltzer in it and everything subsides.

After the BD i really need to go and can really only stay flat for about 10 minutes before it is unbearable.

Should I stay lying down afterwards?

Some experts also believe that you can boost your chances of conceiving by staying in bed for up to half an hour after BD'ing, preferably on your back with your hips raised on a pillow. In theory, this gives the sperm a helping hand because they're not having to swim against gravity on their way up to your fallopian tubes. (This obviously isn't a good idea if you're prone to urinary tract infections and have been advised by your doctor to go to the bathroom immediately after BD.)

Another trick that some women swear by is lying on your back and "bicycling" in the air with your legs for a few minutes after BD. If nothing else it should give you and your partner a good giggle - and what could be more conducive to successful baby-making than having fun in bed!
