I'm confused.

If you register for room decor...why would it be necessary to include "no characters". I mean, don't you register for bedding, lamp, nightlite etc....and if you picked out a theme that doesn't have characters then why would you have to write that??

Character stuff comes in more than just room decor, it is ALL OVER clothing, towelsetc. When the OP said no characters I understood her to mean, no characters on anything, not clothes, baby bottles, pacifiers, towels - nothing.

Oh, ok. I took it to meant that b/c it was under room decor section that nothing for the room be in characters..

Guess I was confused!!

I still personally wouldn't write that on my registry but it seems i'm in the minority! I also don't really mind winnie the pooh, i think he's adorable, lol. And my son didn't get one thing with characters...i think he got one winnie the pooh and i loved it.

I didn't write anything like that and no one got him anything outside of what I registered for. I mean a few people did their own gifts but I didn't mind...

Edited to add....I don't necessarily think its rude...but i couldn't put notes on my registry as to what i don't want. I would feel uncomfortable doing that. But that is just me. If I got something I didn't like or didn't want, it got returned.

I put it because I loathe Winnie the pooh, elmo blues clues. etc. I cant see getting something I will NEVER put out or use. Its as good as a regift or garbage. Why have someone spend good money on something that would NEVER get use. JMO

I can understand your line of thinking, and if it works for you, great!

I was just responding that I wouldn't do it, that's all. Its a personal thing....and you will get things at your shower that aren't on your registry, b/c well, some people just like to go and do their own thing anyway. Most of the time you can return it or exchange for a gift card..

Re: Please be honest...

I'm very new into my registry, but I wrote that we prefer giftcards if someone is stuck so we can put them to use later on. I am also going to tell my mom/MIL to tell everyone that when it comes time for the shower.

I got so much stuff for my wedding showers that is sitting on shelves in my basement, or out in our garage.

I just don't want the same thing for this. It is such a waste IMHO.
