ICSI

I just found out that we are going to need to do this, however it's not covered by my insurance b/c it's a MF issue and his insurance doesn't cover any procedures. Does anyone know how much this will cost? THANKS!

Re: ICSI

Are you positive about that? I'm not sure how much it costs, but I know my insurance company said they would not cover it unless it was medically necessary. In our case, it was so they covered it.

ETA: My DH is not on my policy either

I'm not positive but I think it was either around or under $1,ooo. We're using it for 1/2 of our embryos- but it was covered so I don't recall the amount. Can you call your dr and find out ahead of time? Can they code it diff so it's covered?Chat Icon gl!

Re: ICSI

Where do you go?

RMA charged me $2,500 and I think its similar price at Cornell. $1k is a bargain.

Hmmm when I called my insurance for authorization they gave me the run down on things that would not be covered if it was because of male factor and that was one of them. I'm wondering if they can code this so that it looks like they need to do it for me? We'll do whatever we need to do but it would be great to have this covered. When I mentioned it to Dr. Brenner he thought it was crazy that something like that wouldn't be covered and said my insurance is typically the most generous. I have the Empire Plan (nyship) and they have covered EVERYTHING thus far...it's been wonderful so I guess I can't complain if they don't cover this.

Re: ICSI

We didnt have coverage for anything and I think it cost us around $1200 at RSNY (in that ballpark, I'm not 100% sure of the exact number). I would definately try and fight it since you are doing IVF for the ICSI!!

Re: ICSI

It's $2,500 at NSUH.

We are going to have to do this too due to MF. Not sure if its covered yet but I am willing to bet my life it's not (that's just me being bitter about my insurance coverage).

If you have the Empire Plan for state employess you should have 50K coverage for you and DH each. That means 50K for MF IF procedures and 50K for female factor IF procedures. This is what I was told when I first got preapproval for IF treatments.

Right but because my husband is not on the policy they made a point of telling me that anything w/ MF would not be covered. I'm going to call the office today and see what they can work out.

I would call and find out. My husband is not on my plan either, but because it was a medical necessitiy, the insurance covered it.

Dh is on my plan. I didn't know it was 50K for him AND 50K for me. I thought it was just 50K total.

This is good to know as we might need ICSI for MF.

Re: ICSI

kmac, I have the same insurance as you and DH is not on my policy and everything, including icsi, was covered on both of my IVFs. I even go to Dr. Brenner as well, so I think it's safe to say it'll be covered. Even on the insurance site, ICSI is listed as being covered.
