Hubby called about 30 places! He spoke to some really nice people but they all say that they need to be euthanized. He got a few leads for underground rescuers but they no longer take raccoons. We have 2 more of these rescuers that we will call tomorrow. Hubby has had constant contact with a former rescuer who is telling him how to take care of them until we find a place.
OMG. I just can't believe. I don't understand WHY they need to die? I will  someone will help you. This is terribly upsetting, I feel terrible for you both being forced to make such a decision.
I know...Isn't it sad how little their lives are worth? We are really horrible to animals.

I never heard of such a thing- having to euthanize them. I don't understand... it's terrible!

I'm so glad the babies were saved.
It's interesting that people in the animal control business are calling it "euthanasia" with raccoons. What the majority of these pest control places do is to drop the raccoon into a garbage can filled with water and drown it. THey do not take the expense of brining to a vet to euthanize that animal humanely.
I've asked several guys who work for different animal control companies, and they told me that yes, that is what they do; they don't tell customers this, but because I knew about it, I guess they were honest with me.

In other news, I am so ****** that I paid a $250 deposit for this "man" to do this. Hubby said we wil not pay the remainder. I mean, he didn't even complete the job (morbid job that it is). In fact he didn't even take a look in my attic. He simply dropped off a cage and picked it up the next day. I am still upset with myself because it was my phone call that caused all of this. I definitely think I could have done this myself. I guess hindsight is 20/20. However, finding a home for these little guys makes me feel somewhat better.
You did not know. You thought you were doing the RIGHT thing. I would not have known either....thanks to you sharing with us, we all do know now.
You saved the babies, that's a huge thing! I would NOT pay the guy the rest. No freaking way.
What does the rescue person do with the babies? I would love to know more. 
You did hte best you could and the simple fact that you found a rescue person for the babies is the biggest deal.

aww, thank you. I actually felt better about myself when I read this.
Rescue girl said she would send hubby pictures and updates.
