Dogs and heartworms?
How bad is it to adopt a dog that is currently being treated for heartworms, but will be finished with the treatment prior to the adoption date? Is a dog never the same after heartworms? Does is shorten their life span? If anyone has any information about it, please let me know. There was another husky up for adoption but is currently being treated for this. She's beautiful. I feel bad for her. If this other dog is no longer available I'm interested in her unless there's going to be ongoing problems. Thanks!

Good question Can you call your local Vet and ask?

Re: Dogs and heartworms?
I would think there would be a few factors to consider...
1. How bad a case of Heartworm was it?
2. How old is the dog?
3. How has he/she responded to treatment?
As for quality of life down the road, again, I would think it depends on how bad a case of Heartworm the dog has.
I would talk to your vet and see what they say.
