Nausea... ugh...

I am just about 7 weeks and the nausea that had been creeping around occasionally is now in fulll force, bothering me all day with a few hours of feeling okay each day. My question is-- for those of you who had nausea, what helped you most, and how long did it last? I can't imagine life like this for any amount of time b/c I feel like I can't even do anything, especially clean my house Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Nausea... ugh...

Nothing really helped except for Zofran, which I am still taking. If I let more than 8 hours pass in between pills, the retching starts up again.

Try Preggie Pops, they helped somewhat- you can get them at Babies R Us or any maternity store.

I tried eating saltines before even getting out of bed, ginger snaps, only drinkin ginger ale (i even bought very expensive ginger ale called Oh Mama at babies r us and that did nothing), and while none of these worked for me, they have worked for others.

GOOD LUCK and feel better!!Chat Icon

Re: Nausea... ugh...

nausea stinks. i still have occasional bouts of it, but it does get better. with my first pg it did not last that long, perhaps because this time around i am having a girl.
this pg i asked my doctor for zofran because i have my son and my dh is working so much i needed to function. i also used seabands. cold fruits and vegetables helped as did cheese. i just tried to eat whatever i could.Chat Icon

Re: Nausea... ugh...

Lasted until about 15 wks for me. I just ate yogurt, pudding, cheese, salad, all cold stuff, lots of french fries for some reason, they always tasted good. I barely ate but at least kept the food down.

I feel much better now at almost 18 weeks, but still not "normal",

Congrats, btw!!!Chat Icon

eat what ever you can..and don't feel guilty if it is junk...I still get nauseous but it has eased up a little...the things that help me are carbs, crackers, greasy things like fries...and alway keeping something in my tummy...crackers are a life saver...feel betterChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Nausea... ugh...

buy the anti naseau bracelets! Drug stores sell them. You wear them on your wrists. Worked like a charm...
Also drank ginger ale, ate saltines, and lastly- they say anything with ginger helps.. even ginger snap cookies!

Re: Nausea... ugh...

I had m/s only until my 9th week. I drank ginger ale and ate sour patch kids to help. During my 16th week, DH and I went on a cruise and when I started feeling a bit of nausea I wore the sea bands and they really helped.

Re: Nausea... ugh...

I felt helpless with the nausea and getting sick at night up until 15 weeks, hang in there, it's so much better once you get to the 2nd trimester. The things that helped me were:

-snacking in between meals
-drinking lots of water or any fluids I could tolerate (juice, lemonade etc)
-watermelon!
-sucking on hard candy, eating sour candy like sour patch kids
-lemonade ice pops and lemon ices

Feel better, it gets sooo much better!
