PSA Re: BRU Returns

I found this on the Parenting Board and figured I'd pass it along. One of the reasons why I did not register at BRU is b/c I have heard of this policy going into effect though I didn't know if it was true. Now I know it is! Chat Icon

Re: PSA Re: BRU Returns

Yep, I heard all about it. I put a note in my registry section asking for gift receipts because of this policy. My MIL and family are also going to spread the word.

That's why I also registered at BBB.

Good idea doing the registry note!! I hate BRU so I was gonna register at BBB exclusively anyway. It must be annoying for all of the people who had gifts purchased already and can't return them!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: PSA Re: BRU Returns

Yep, I imagine so. I debated putting a note but the way I phrased it, I stated that due to the BRU policy, any computer errors that lead to duplicated cannot be returned without a gift receipt. My family felt that no one would be insulted since I stated that it was BRU's policy.

I called them about this and they said that although it is true generally, you do not need a receipt for items on your registry.

Very true.

I had gotten a humidifier and tub that I had on my registry and couldnt bring it back to FL with me because it was so big and it was silly to ship it down so my parents went to BRU and returned it for me without the receipts and then sent me the merchandise return gift card.

As long as the item is on your registry you do not need a gift receipt.

The problem with this is that some people will buy you things that are not on your registry that you don't want or need. With this new policy, you are basically stuck with it unless you have the gift receipt.

Their is a way around that. If you receive something that is not on your registry just go to your registry and add it. Then wait a few days, go to BRU and return it.

Add it to your registry and you can edit your registry to show it was purchased.

I had a bedding set on my registry but my aunt got it someplace else. So I went on, clicked edit, wrote 1 in the box and the item was moved to items already purchased

Even if the item doesn't show purchased on the registry they will take it back as long as it's on there. I have already done this (sometimes people forget to give the cashier the registry to scan)

Nope...it has to say it was purchased on your registry for them to accept it...someone tried that while I was on line waiting to pay and I overheard the BRU employee say that...

You can mark it on your registry that it was an item already purchased. It's on the edit feature. When you go to BRU and they pull your registry it will show as an already purchased item Chat Icon
