i didn't know fozzie was jewish...
Well you know a lot of "old school" muppets had to change their names in order to survive in the entertainment business. He was in fact Jewish and his name was ORIGINALLY:

my great grandfather was a norwegian jew... i wonder if maybe that's the secret he is keeping! that he's not swedish, i mean...
we could be related!

It may explain why so many Jews like herring in cream sauce and pickled herring (I am not one of them though.)
