Too nausous to eat-what to do?

I tried eating twice tonight-toast then cereal and both times threw up. What do I do? Do I just skip dinner tonight? How bad is this for the baby? I feel like I'm depriving him/her! This is the first time that I haven't been able to actually eat. Chat Icon

You're not going to hurt the baby if you skip a meal. If you really don't feel well, at least try to have some fluids. Feel better. Chat Icon

Can you drink anything? Milk actually helped settle my stomach, and it's about the only thing I drank during the those first few weeks with m/s.

I still drink about 4 glasses a day!

as PP said, you will not hurt the baby by not eating one meal

when I was really nauseous; the whole month of may; hard candies really did help

Thanks, ladies. Chat Icon I actually just ate a yogurt and I'm drinking a glass of milk. So far so good!

Snowflake: I've tried jolly ranchers and they've been no help. Maybe peppermint hard candies. Guess DH is going to the store tomorrow!

Re: Too nausous to eat-what to do?

the nausous feeling might also be bad b/c of an empty stomach..

a few saltines do the trick for me and ice water.. and as painful and gross as i dont want them - in 5 min, i actually feel better..

Yogurt, pudding, fruit and carnation shakes are helping me to get some calories. I am 15 weeks and still am lucky if I can eat anything. I have no desire to eat (I am usually a very big eater).

My doctor told me it is fine to not eat if you can't. The baby will get the nutrients it needs from your body.

Lemon Drops were a god send for me in my first trimester!!!!

Re: Too nausous to eat-what to do?

with my dd i had really bad m/s couldnt keep down anything. The OB told me i wasnt harming the baby.. the baby was taking what it needed from me, so the only one who was feeling the neg. side of not eating was myself. They will keep track of your weight.. if they feel your lossing too much, then the doc will interven with either meds to help you or if it gets really bad, they will admit you into the hospital.

just make sure you take your prenatals.

Eat whatever you possibly can that you are going to be able to tolerate. (as long as its safe to eat while pregnant)

Thank you everyone! Feeling better this morning. I had some cereal and now I'm eating pretzels. Guess I'll just eat what I can!

I second the lemon drops. They were for me the best thing for nausea.
