spinoff , of sorts, eloping
what is the gift etiquette?
my cousin got married in Hawaii to her bf of only a few months before he was deployed to Iraq. he is now safely home, thank god. so when i found out, i send a card, with no $$ or whatever. was that rude? and last year, they were planning a church wedding, but due to scheduling conflicts, that got postponed. so if there ever is a wedding, i'll give them $$, but should i have send them a small check when they first got married??

How long have they been married now?
I would have sent a gift when I heard about the wedding. Since the date of the church ceremony is up in the air, I would give them a gift next time you see them. Even though there was no church ceremony or reception, they still got married, even a little something would be nice.
