if you go out to lunch....
to a fast food place, mc'd's, taco bell and whathaveyou, do you offer to get for others? or do you just walk out?
i will walk out to lunch and not tell a soul where i am going. is it rude? maybe, but i'd have to come back with 6 different orders, and i just don't have time for that.
thoughts?

Re: if you go out to lunch....
For one I don't drive anywhere when I'm having lunch but when I do go out somewhere I ask(just to be polite) not that I really want to carry 4 other lunches back with me.

Re: if you go out to lunch....
I ask my office mate if she wants something but I think if 5 years, she has asked for something once. She asks me I need anything when she goes out also. Actually she is such a sweetheart - if I don't get out she'll offer to go down and get me something. I don't take her up on it, but I think that's super nice of her!

I'm the exact same way... I dont tell ANYONE where I'm going.. because quite frankly, I dont WANT to bring them back coffee/drinks/food/etc. So I do not think its rude at all...
This could also be because I'm not too close or fond of my immediate co-workers either

Re: if you go out to lunch....
If I am ordering in I will go around the office and ask if anyone wants anything but when I go out I just leave.

Re: if you go out to lunch....
I dont usually offer unless I have another person going with me. Its too much stuff for me to carry by myself.
Like when I want Starbucks, I kind of sneak out because if you go to Starbucks and order 6 drinks the people behind you online get realllly mad and its too hard to carry all that stuff back to the office!

Re: if you go out to lunch....
I don't ask. I dont think it is rude. They are just as capable of going out themselves.
Ocassionally, if I am taking a snack break, will ask, b/c bringing back an extra Snapple is no big deal, but for lunch, sometimes I like to wander or run errands, I don't want other people to be dependant on me to bring their food back.

Sometimes, but even then, just the 2 or 3 people in my immediate office area, not everyone

Re: if you go out to lunch....
I ask the few people that I work closely with. I stopped asking one of the bosses because he would order something and conveniently forget to pay!

I run out the door and don't say a word to anyone. They can go out and get their own lunch!

Re: if you go out to lunch....
I dont ask anyone and no I dont think thats rude! I dont have time or money to run into problems.
Ive asked my boss a few times if he wanted something only because I knew he wouldnt have time to go and get something. He never accepted the offer though.

Re: if you go out to lunch....
I don't ask anyone except my dad (we work in the same office). I don't want to have to worry about other peoples cash and change and all that. No one else seems to ever ask me if I want anything when they go out either. So why go out on the limb.

Re: if you go out to lunch....
I ask, but I don't think it is rude if you don't. I only ask because the girl sitting next to me is so helpful and so busy all the time that she can't get away. I ask one of my bankers mainly because he always asks me.

Re: if you go out to lunch....
I ask a few people if they want to go with me or if they want me to pick up something. Most of the time, we order in.
