Hypothetical question

Would you ever bring home a puppy without consulting with your spouse?

And if you dh did this, how would you react?

Keep in mind you already have a toddler and a dog Chat Icon

Re: Hypothetical question

Def not. I think it should be a mutual decision.

I would be upset, but probably would let it go of course, and keep the dog.

No I wouldn't. I'd be thrilled if DH did though but he never would.

Minus the toddler my DH did this 3x already!! The first time I took it back, The 2nd time I kept her (Best thing I ever did in my life) 3rd time had a panic attack after 3 days and returned that one.. I think this is so common among marriages and households.. I wouldn't be so angry at my DH but I would definately make the final decision.. Especially if you will be doing all the work. If you cant handle it and will be resentful give it back or tell dh to find a better home.. And definately do not feel guilty.. You will all get over it.. I promise!!! Good luck!! Re: Hypothetical question

ok, well dh brought a puppy home yesterday (he was giving an estimate to some lady for painting work and she offered him a puppy). He brought her home and I freaked out. I told him there is no way we can care for this dog and that he would need to give her back so someone who wants her and can care for her can adopt her. He was ****** but he brought the puppy back

It was a boxer/pit mix...not the kind of dog I would want around my dd anyway...

I feel bad but I am sure someone else will adopt her Chat Icon

Re: Hypothetical question

I think it depemds on the puppy/dog's situation. We already have a big dog, and we want another one someday. But depends on situation. Hard one.

Re: Hypothetical question

NEVER without his knowledge.
It is a major life change and decision and should be made together.
End of story.

Re: Hypothetical question

I would never do this. Especially since we already have a dog and a cat.
We make ALL of our decisions together and this is one of them.

Re: Hypothetical question

DH probably would not care (although we have 4 already so maybe at this point he might), but I would never assume that it would be ok. There is no situation so pressing that I could not make a simple phone call to let him know first.

And it is no good for the dog either to be shuffled around. So in the end even with the best intentions, the end result is good for no one.

No. A puppy is a life changing decision, you both have to be on board.
