dog spa???

Am I the only one who does not get This one At all??? Massage? Reiki? Weight loss? Exercise programs? What stress do dogs go through that they need to unwind with a massage? How is petting your dog and rubbing the belly different? Since when do dogs need someone else to exercise them? Ever hear of a walk? A dog park? What is happening in our world where somehow dogs are falling into some unhealthy lifestyle, or people are telling us they are, that people are taking their dogs somewhere else to treat them like stressed out, unhealthy people?????

Brutus' dog spa is laying between us in our 100 degree sauna apartment. That is all he needs.

He DOES get stressed out from thunderstorms though . . . . Chat Icon

Re: dog spa???

What I find funny, Is the dogs really have no clue, they dont know the difference between you rubbing them with your foot while watching TV, or some smanchy spa that cost a 100bucks! Except prob. they would rather be with their owners and a smelly foot MORE!

Re: dog spa???

I think it is the most idiotic thing EVER!

However, it is a very clever marketing strategy because it basically sucks the money out of people who clearly have too much of it...

Kasey's massage is a belly rub, she gets exercise at the dog park, we give her a full body bath with the hose, and in place of champagne and strawberries she gets water and treats. She's living the life!!

I see advertisements now for a Dog Resort, I'm sure it's a great alternative to boarding but prob costs more than it is for us to go away on vacation.

Re: dog spa???

I am going to defend them in that I think it's better to leave your dog at a doggie day care/spa for the day as opposed to leaving them in a crate for hours on end.
Dog spas are more for people than the dog...obviously the dog doesn't care about the "treatments", but it makes owners feel better about not being home for their dogs.
Plus, those with money and no children will end up doting on their dogs instead. No dog needs all the tons of toys we buy for them either, but we do it.

Katie is just as happy with a plastic bottle filled with ice cubes as she is with a $7 toy from PetCo yet I still buy her toys! Chat Icon

Chat Icon I'm guilty of the doggieday care! He only goes about once a week (if that) or 2 the most during the week. Like Gerty mentioned, it is better then leaving him in the crate for hours on end. Plus, I love my dog more than most humans! He is our four legged baby! Prior to owning the dog, I never got it. But, now I understand why dog owners spoil their dogs! Piper has more toys than I did growing up. Chat Icon I've never taken the dog to the spa but, hey there is always a First!
