Re: In Regard to Godparents...

I think it depends on the church, you should ask them.

My DH is Catholic, I am Lutheran, but we are the godparents of our neice baptized Catholic. I had to just show my baptismal certificate to prove I was baptised.

Re: In Regard to Godparents...

I believe if you are only baptised you are considered a Christian witness. You have to have gotten the three "big" sacraments (baptism, communion, and confirmation) to be an official god parent.

Re: In Regard to Godparents...

one has to be officially catholic and up to date with sacraments. I just went through the process to become the official 'godparent' for my niece. the church had to write a note to the baptismal church stating I am current.

Re: In Regard to Godparents...

i heard that at least one has to be and the one that isnt can participate in the ceramony but in the eyes of the church wont actually be a god parent. the whole baptisim thing is gonna be a real issue for us because i am half jewish half catholic and unbaptised and i heard that because of this my child cant be baptised but my bf really wants her to be. also my friend who i want to be the god mother isnt catholic. y do they have to be so strict???

Just because you're not baptised should not have any bearing on your child being able to be baptised. One has nothing to do with the other. As long as one of the god parents is you should be fine.
