How did or do you find private child care
Ok, early in the planning, but here's my question.
I would actually only need a sitter/nanny from 1:30PM-7PM. (actually could do 1PM-4:30PM if my mom/sister watch the baby for a 4-7PM)
How in the world am I going to find somebody that will only work for 3/4 hours per day? How would you find somebody? Thanks

I found someone on craigslist I know that sounds horrible but I went to see several places that were licensed and this was the best!

If you place an ad or find someone through craiglist, I'd run your own background check on them.

Just start mentioning it. Word of mouth is probably the best way. Someone will want that schedule...I would.

Re: How did or do you find private child care
I just put an ad on Craigslist for a babysitter for my friend coming to visit me and met a TON of nice people. There was only 1 I wouldn't have hired. I live in a college town though so that might be different. I checked references and trusted my gut. If I was looking for full time childcare I would probably add a background check aas AP said

so did a girl I work with, and she has been very happy. A college student would probably be your best bet.

Hmm! Good idea and you are not too far from St. Joes who has a Elem Ed program, so there may be plenty of future teachers to choose from!

Re: How did or do you find private child care
I found two good sitters on babysitters.com and sittercity.com. The only bad thing is you have to join for a fee before you can get the sitters contact info. But you can read their profiles, some of them have reviews, references etc. You can also post an ad on it yourself and have people respond.

I would just ask, ask, ask around! If you have friends with kids at your local school, that would be an excellent resource, as moms tend to know other moms... and a SAHM whose little one was at school is an excellent candidate.
Good luck! It is never too early to look!
