For those who have m/c
I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum and I decided to wait it out to miscarry naturally, but it is definitely taking a toll on me. I just felt that if it happened naturally I could know that it was 100% meant to be and there would be no doubt. I am now considering having a d&C, just so I wont be in a constant worry and can move on. Those that had a choice can you tell me what you chose and why? Thanks so much!

Re: For those who have m/c
i was in labor in the hospital and had a natural MC..
BUT, if i was in your situation, i would have the D&C.. i couldnt "wait" for it to happen naturally.. already knowing what is happening, it would depress me even more.. i would just want to get it over with.
i am so sorry you are going through this.. its so unfair if you ever need to talk i am here!

It happened for me naturally, but I know at the time I was talking to my mom about it and I told her that if it didn't happen on its own, I would definitely get a D&C, it would kill me to wait around for it to happen.

Re: For those who have m/c
My Dr told me that he thought I would miscarry naturally, and to come back in a few days...I waited two days, and I did in fact miscarry on my own the morning that my appointment was scheduled. I am happy that I waited to miscarry naturally. I have not had experience with a D&C, but after my natural miscarriage, I bled for about 7 days, and my AF returned regularly 28 days later. I then got PG the next month. I am so sorry that you are going through this. It is a very difficult process. Sending you lots of

Re: For those who have m/c
Thank you! It has been two and half of weeks of not knowing. I first went to the doctor 2 weeks ago and he said a blighted ovum then I went last week and he says he may have seen the start of the fetal pole. Then I went yesterday and he said there was nothing there. So it has just been such a rollercoaster.

Re: For those who have m/c
I just had a D&C. The doctor told me that because the sac that the baby was in was just starting to collapse, it could be a week or two before I would actually have the mis-carriage. So, I had the D&C. It did not hurt, I did have cramping, and still do, they said it lasts for up to a month...but I hardly bled at all after. The procedure only took about 40 min, and they also scrape the lining of the uterus.
Honestly, I do not know what I would do, if I had to go through all this again because I do not think I could deal with having my body taking care of it, I think I would not be able to handle seeing all the blood and tissue....BUT....I also feel guilty about having the D&C, even though my baby was not alive anymore, I still felt guilty as if I had an abortion to get rid of our baby..it was very emotional for me, I freaked out right before they took me in. I also had been waiting from 2:00pm until almost 9:00pm at the hospital though to have the procedure done, because I was an add on without an appt.......so I had too much time to think about what was happening.
Sorry if TMI, I just wanted to be honest

Re: For those who have m/c
I would have the D&C for a number of reasons. One, it puts closure to the whole issue- I felt like waiting to miscarry just made it worse. Two, you can have testing done to see why you had a blighted ovum. I found out that it was Trisomy 13 and that there was never a chance. This helped also.
Plus you get a couple days of feeling somewhat ok due to all the meds they put you on. This eased the transistion for me as well.
I am so sorry for your loss
ETA: I also was told not to "try" for a few months but we were not careful and conceived my DD after my first period. Everything was fine.

I am so sorry...
I chose to have the D&C. I know 2 people who chose to M/C naturally and had to have the D&C anyway. I didn't want to put myself through that, so I opted to have the D&C right away.
You will get through it. The girls on this board are great - we're here if you need to vent!
