Would you change doctors?
I love my current OBGYN and the hospital I will deliver at, but we are potentially moving (our offer on a house was just accepted ) about a half hour away. Would you try to find a doc closer to home?
I should also mention I'm not currently working so going to appointments and getting back to the office is not an issue at the moment.
Would love to hear your perspective.
Thanks!
ETA: I'm 16 weeks

Re: Would you change doctors?
I wouldn't switch..... you're happy there, and the hospital isn't SO far away... almost everyone has to drive at least 15 min to get to the hospital... I think 30 is still ok.

Re: Would you change doctors?
my hospital and doc are about 30 mins without traffic. At first I was hesitant, but didn't like any of the docs in my area and really wanted to deliver at NSUH Manhasset.... ETA to add I wouldn't switch if you are happy

Re: Would you change doctors?
I'd stay with my doctor. I live in Kew Gardens but am delivering at Lenox Hill in Manhattan. My girlfriend who lives in East Meadow just delivered at Lenox Hill last month. It's more important to be comfortable. 30 minutes is not far at all.

Re: Would you change doctors?
I chose my doctor b/c the office is close to my job, which makes it easier to go to appointments. They also have offices in 2 other towns, which are some of the areas where we're looking to buy a house.
How far will the hospital be from your new house? How far away is the office from your new house? If you really love the doctor, I'd probably stay with the practice. If you want the name of my practice, let me know. I've been very happy with them so far.
Congratulations on the house!

Re: Would you change doctors?
Nah, I wouldn't switch. I live a distance from my doctor, as well as the hospital I will be delivering at. Probably a good 40 minutes or so without traffic. Everyone has eased my mind that distance is not really an issue especially when you think about quality and access to good services.
