Risks of IVF
DH and I are having some serious conversations about doing IVF this summer. DH has concerns about increased rates of birth defects with IVF. Does anyone else worry about this? My understanding is that the risks are minimal.

Re: Risks of IVF
You can do PGD testing if it is a big concern. They can test for certain issues....
ETA - To be clear, I don't worry about the actual IVF procedure causing problems.

Re: Risks of IVF
From what I've read the risks aren't really worse than just getting PG naturally... I'm not worried about birth defect type risks any more than if we had gotten PG on our own.. my concern is OHSS- but that's nothing new... and my other concern is having my cycle go too well and get cancelled- though I'm hopeful that at least they'd retrieve the eggs... and transfer at a later date.

Re: Risks of IVF
In Dr. Kenigsbergs book he talks about increased risk of birth defects with IVF and basically it comes down to the age factor, which would be the case in a normal pregnancy. The older the woman is, the higher the risk of birth defects. The general risk is minimal.
