Re: Grand Canyon
Best as a side trip on a visit to Las Vegas or Sedona, unless you're planning to go into the canyon itself.

Re: Grand Canyon
We took a helicopter ride there while in Vegas. It was amazing.

Re: Grand Canyon
We did it as a side trip from Las Vegas using Adventure Photo Tours. There are hotels in the Canyon park too.

Re: Grand Canyon
We stayed overnight. We had the baby with us so nothing too crazy. We stayed at one of the lodges right on the south rim.
If you go to the south rim - stop in and see the movie beforehand.
It's absolutely amazing. Get there in time for sunset, and get up to see the sunrise.
We stayed in Sedona for a few days, one night at Grand Canyon, back to Sedona for one night at the Spa, then home.

Re: Grand Canyon
I read that the average length of stay at the Grand Canyon is 15 minutes.
I have hiked down half way twice (you cannot hike all the way up and back in one day - it is too taxing on even the most fit climbers). Once we camped on the grounds and the second time we stayed in Flagstaff the night before and were in San Diego the next night (driving)

Re: Grand Canyon
We recently went to the Grand Canyon, and we stayed at a hotel just outside the park. It was called The Grand Hotel, and the prices were very reasonable. Very clean hotel, and it has a nice little restaurant that hosts a local Native American tribe that does dances. It was the highlight of our trip (other than the Canyon itself) We are planning to get back there and would stay again.
In the park, it's really easy to get around and just pull off the main road to visit different lookout points. Any way you look at it.. it's breathtaking!
