Ordering furniture
My IL's and parents have been gracious enough to offer to buy some of the baby's furniture. IL's will be buying the changing table and my parent's will be buying the crib. We will buy the dresser. How do I go about order it? Order it all together? Bring each set of parent's to the store separately? They can't go to the store together..so that is out.

Re: Ordering furniture
My parents bought our furniture and since they are in NY and we are in NC, we were able to go to BRU by us, have them speak to my parents by phone and order everything in the store.
eta: we are having our furniture shipped to the store, so we don't have to pay for shipping

Re: Ordering furniture
we just ordered everything together yesterday from BRU... im not sure if that saved on shipping or not... if it does, can you maybe lay the money out and have one set of parents pay you back? that way everything comes together...

Re: Ordering furniture
We ordered from BBB. They charge one delivery fee for the two pieces we ordered, so you might want to ask if they can link your orders to save a bit on the shipping.

Re: Ordering furniture
Maybe your parents and IL's would be willing to give you gift cards with the amount of each item on it this way you can order it together. multiple orders meams multiple deliveries and then someone has to be home to accept those items more than once.. just a suggestion. Let me know how it turns out!!

Re: Ordering furniture
I would take them both together. We ordered ours from BBB. It was one shipping cost for as many pieces as you want. My parents bought the furniture.

I think hell would freeze over before my mom and MIL went to a store together. Even with a mediator.

Re: Ordering furniture
Take them separately before ordering then ask for the money and then go and pay for it all...or when you take each parent there have them put money down on it and then lastly you and Stefan go and put the last of the money down and order. Sure glad just my IL 's are buying the whole nursery and don’t have to worry about it!!!! Sorry!!!

Re: Ordering furniture
We charged the whole thing and got money from my father for the crib and my Inlaws for the dresser. It was easiest to put it all together and then they both gave us checks.

Re: Ordering furniture
Put them on your regisrty and let them buy off that. To heck with the shipping fees, it is worth your sanity!

Re: Ordering furniture
Figure out what each piece will cost with tax..then have them either buy you a gift card in that amout or give the $$ to you.

Re: Ordering furniture
We put the pieces on our registry. MIL bought the crib. My mother bought the changing table and FIL and his wife will be getting another piece of furniture. All they have to do is just call BRU and order it directly from the store. Crib is in already. DH is going tomorrow to pick that up.
We wrote on our registry that items can be ordered directly by calling BRU and we can pick up the stuff this way it saves on shipping. I think a lot of people took advantage of that and their are some things that are on a delayed pick up so DH will be getting that stuff as well.
