Help me with make-up

My wedding is around the corner and I need make-up help. I don't normally wear a ton make-up and I can't see spending 350+ for make-up for my bridal party, myself and mother. I would rather go on a weekend getaway for that kind of money Chat Icon

Is there anyone out there that would be willing to help me with my make-up or even give me some tips?? I don't want to be totally lost on my wedding day.

I'm sorry, but for your wedding day you want to do your own makeup and you have no experience?? I totally believe that your wedding day is the ONE day you should definitely look your best....even if it's only you getting your makeup done and not your bridal party....just pay to get yours done professionally...you'll look back at pictures and thank me!

Thats what I was thinking but no one wants to come to my location for just 1 person Chat Icon That's why I'm stuck, I've pretty much contacted everyone on LIW and whoever isn't booked wants at least a 3 person minimum or is charging an insane amount.

I was trying to see if anyone on here had a friend who does make-up or does make-up on the side. I've exhausted my options and don't know what to do.

yeah, or go to the mall make up counter and ask them.

I used a clnique rep from Bloomingdales and for $100 I looked pretty damned....PRETTY on my wedding day LOL

you traditionally don't pay for your bp.

if money's tight, let THEM do their own makeup..NOT THE Chat Icon

I need to be ready around 8:30-9 the latest. So going to the mall won't work and I don't even know of any local salons that would be open that early either.

We have to be at the church at 10 and we're taking some pics before hand...that's why i'm kinda stuck and need some help.

I didn't mean go to the mall the day of Chat Icon

go now...today...tomorrow and go to the counter whose look you like best.

MAC, Clinique, Bobbi Brown, Smashbox, Lancome...all of them have artists. All of them give complimentary makeovers.

let them make you over. then talk to them about what you are looking for.

your timing is early, but may work out for them b/c they can do your makeup and not have to worry about taking a day off.

If I were you, this is what I would do

Re: Help me with make-up

Go on some makeup trials and buy the things you like. Then practice and do it yourself the day of. You will spend some money but you will have all new makeup for the same price you would spend on the trials plus having someone come over to apply it on the day of. I was quite happy with how I did my own makeup on my wedding day. It may have looked a little lighter than what some people do but that is only because I refuse to ever wear mascara.

No joke, put an ad on craigslist.. even a cosmatology (sp?) student... and I bet they wont charge much, let them take pics for their portfolio if need be.. I did that for a hair person for my girls for my wedding.

Also, I know my salon will open very early for bides so I'd call around.

there was a women I was considering, she works for MAC at smithaven mall, I met her at a westbury manor showcase.. she short.. hmm can't think of her name, but she was going to come to me and I was the only one having my make-up done.. I think her price was under $100, and i think a trial was $65 but you went to her for the trial only, she lived in Deer park... Man I wish I could remember her name!! I've seen her working at MAC though in smithaven mall

Re: Help me with make-up

I'm sure that many of the sales people at makeup counters might be willing to come to do your makeup for you if you ask them

I had a friend of my MOH come to do everyones makeup for a small fee. Ask around but I would say if you have no experience, do not do your own makeup! I love makeup and play around all the time and I still didnt trust myself to do a good job.

You want good coverage and waterproof eyes and all that stuff that professionals do best.

Re: Help me with make-up

I agree w/ alot of the posts about makeup counter girls. SInce your wedding is early, someone from say MAC can gt to you and not have to take off from work so its a win-win.
Without a doubt spend a few hrs at the mall and visit all the makeup counters. You are BOUND to get someone who will come to you!

And DO NOT pay for your BMs makeup. That is lovely that you thik you should but NO WAY!! I paid for my own and treated my mom and sis (MOH) and THATS IT!!! You dont even need to do that.

I would not recommend to do your own makeup on your wedding day.

$350 will be worth a million bucks when you see your pictures

Re: Help me with make-up

Get a few trials so you kinda know what you like and don't like. And bring pics to the trials so the artist has a better idea of the 'look' you are going for (just like a haircut, a picture is worth 1000 words.)
