So DH's boss goes to trade in his Lincoln Navigator
for a smaller car - at a dealer he's been dealing with for decades. they wouldn't take it

yep, I've heard that about hummers too. it's very difficult to trade-in gas guzzlers these days......
I hope you find another place to trade it in

They were just saying this on the "stock" channel this morning. Dealearship are "discouraging" trade-ins of SUV. In another word, they don't want them.

Actually, there could be an issue with this.
My cousin had a Tahoe. They didn't plan on getting another Chevy. You can't imagine the problems they had, no one would take it b/c they weren't leasing another Chevy. Oh, and the dealer they had used had closed down so that was the main issue.
It took them over a mth to find a dealer to take it, it was a mess.
Hope this doesn't start happening to more people.

I heard this Monday on the news. They were saying that if the dealership does take it they are not going to give your the best value for it.

I don't think my dealership is going anywhere
if I had to get another MB I would- it's not my first choice
heck- I woud even keep the SUV I have- it's not a full size and gets decent IMO 22 mpg

i had a feeling that would start happening.
But with a poll last week, it seemed that people were happy with their SUVs and would even buy another so that's conflicting (even in a small scale)
Glad I got rid of the Pathfinder. The new one gets 14 mpg city.
