My first trip to the ER since being pregnant...
So last night DH had to take me to the ER becuase I had a very serious asthma attack and was unable to breath. I called my pulminary specialist and they told me take a nebulizer treatment and if that didn't work, go to the ER to get further treatment and make sure the baby isn't in distress. So, I did as they said that the first treatment did nothing. So, off to St. Charles we went! They fixed me up and I had a great experience with the nurses and doctors there. Unfortunately, I'm starting to have some trouble breathing again this morning. So, I will be heading to the pulminary specialist in a little bit.
The best news (and the thing that scared me the most) was that the baby is FINE! He is not in distress and his heartbeat was 174. So, they said no cause for concern.

I hope you feel better...and you are doing the smart thing by going back to your doctor if your having problems breathing again....Does your doctor have you on any preventative asthma medications like "Advair"? Because sometimes the nebulizer (albuterol) just doesn't work..

Oh my little Krista.... between you and my brother and I cant hear one more '' i cant breathe' story!. I can't imagine how horrible and scary that is for you guys to feel like you're not getting enough air. Glad to hear the bean is doing well, keep us posted!

But it has to be hard when u are worrying about the baby and yourself.

Yes, I take advair and singulair everyday. But, I woke up with a cold that migrated to my chest. That's how it all started. I usually use Xopenex (pronounced zopenex) but I ran out and had to use the albuterol. The hospital ended up giving me Xopenex. It's better because that med does not make your heart race and give you the shakes.

O.k. sweetie...make sure to get that prescription right away...and drinks lots of water...to loosen the phelgm in your chest..
