Toys r us in Commack
Is going out of business. Everything is at least 10%off.
I was there today- they are pretty fully stocked still. They have everything. Car seats, swings, bouncy seats, bottles. It is worth going there if you need stuff.

I heard this too. Stores like Target and Kmart that sell toys for significantly cheaper are putting them out of business.

They aren't all closing. But a decent amount of them are. THe one in Levittown on Hempstead Tpke is closing, but I don't think the one in Massapequa is.

yeah only 3 are closing right now. im going to wait till they have at least 50% off right now becuase im pretty much set with baby stuff. I read that babies r us are more profitable than the toys rus since target an walmart have cheaper prices on toys.

the commack one is on route 25 if you take the sunken meadow to 25 W its one the left after the chinese restaurant. I never liked that store anyway stuff was always a mess and the staff never helped at that location. plus the traffic in the area can be a pain in the arse.

I don't know. It's just what I heard. Three stores are closing now, but I heard eventually all Toys R' Us stores will be closing down and they're going to specialize in baby stores (BRU).

It's beacuse in most parts of the country, Target, Walmart & Kmart are much bigger stores than they are here. They have much larger selection of everything, including toys, and they put a lot of pressure on the manufacturers to sell them the product at a discount so that they can then sell it to their customers cheaper. Plus, they have really efficient distribution systems in place. And Walmart is also buying for their Sams Club locations, so they are really buying A LOT of toys from the manufacturers.
TRU has a lot of locations, some very close to each other and their distribution system was terrible, so they end up having to add a decent amount of money to the cost of the toys. They just can't compete pricewise. Plus, since they don't sell as much as the other stores, they aren't getting as large a bulk discount from the manufacturers.
You'd think they'd have learned from when they had to get rid of Kids R Us for similar reasons.
