Court and Children
Does anyone know if you can bring a child to court with you?
My dh's friend has no babysitter for his daughter when he has a court date and is going to bring her. She is 4 years old.
Thanks :)

Re: Court and Children
I think that is fine
I think the only time I wouldn't would be if they don't know how to behave themselves

Re: Court and Children
I had to go to traffic court for a hit and run accident I was involved in 2 years ago, and every time someone came in with a child, they made them leave.

Re: Court and Children
What is the court appearance for?
It is frowned upon by judges and the clerk for parents to bring children to divorce and/or family court proceedings unless the child is requested to be there for testimony or to speak to the judge. I would imagine the same would go for a criminal appearance or most appearances, actually.

Re: Court and Children
Yes you can. Family Court has daycare center inhouse for litigants, but child must be walking.

I was asked to appear, as a child, at the request of the judge. I still vividly remember it and wish I didn't.

Re: Court and Children
Depends on the judge. I work for a judge and he hates when people bring children to court. He won't let children in. Depending on the county and court, some courthouses have daycare where you can drop the child off.

Re: Court and Children
Thanks everyone. I will let him know these answers. I personally don't think it is a good idea so maybe he can find a sitter.
