Membrane Stripping??
I wrote last week or so about how I popped out a rib. Well it keeps dislocating and I'm seeing a physical therapist to put it back in place. She works at my OB's office. Its very painful and I'm not really able to sleep - this has been going on for two weeks now! Yesterday I had PT and she said she was going to tell my OB to think about stripping my membranes today. She wants to get things going because she said the baby dropping is putting too much strain on my rib cage. My OB appointment is in an hour and now I'm getting nervous.
Has anyone had this done? Does it hurt a lot? How soon afterwards does labor start? I'm kind of excited but nervous at the same time!

I had it done and it didn't hurt at all! You will see some bleeding that night and some cramping. For me, it didn't work at all! (I went past my due date! )
But I know that for some, they went into labor a day or two after!

I don't have any personal experience, sorry! I just wanted to send you lots of hugs for all of the pain you are in!! I hope you get to see your little bundle soon if the OB decides to strip your membranes!

Re: Membrane Stripping??
Thanks everyone! I had this done today. And wow did it hurt a lot! I am 80% effaced and still 1 cm. She said the baby was so low and in position that she would do it. I'm bleeding now and cramping a little. Still no contractions though. We'll see what happens!!

Re: Membrane Stripping??
No contractions yet. I'm still spotting though and having horrible cramps. If this doesn't speed things up and just makes me uncomfortable then it will not have been worth the pain!
