I am not used to this...

I could always get an appointment w/in a couple of days at my REs office.... w/ this new dr they are giving me appointments weeks from now every time I call I HATE WAITING!!!
I called this morning to set up an appointment for next week sometime figuring that I'd have my records on friday morning when I meet w/ my dr so the quicker I could meet w/ Dr. K, the quicker we could start this whole process.
The first appointment they had in the port jeff office was June 4th, the first appointment they had in the melville office was june 2nd...
So now I get the joy of traveling from the North Fork, like 25 mins past the end of the expressway- all the way into Lake Success. My DH is going to love me But at least I could get an appointment there a week from today, at 3 in the afternoon- so we won't have to get up real early.
Then, just to be safe, I booked that appointment on june 4th in the port jeff office, thinking that he'll put me on provera and that'll be around CD3 for me most likely... though if he doesn't then I'll cancel it. I figured better safe than sorry, and if he has me meet w/ a nurse instead for my monitoring, then maybe I'll be able to move it up or make it w/ them instead.

I know it's hard waiting. I made my appt last week in Melville and I got June 2. So it sounds like they had a cancellation.

hmmm...I guess I should call and make an appointment before you take them all! (just kidding )

I'm sure when you go for routine things (sonos, bw, etc) you will be able to get appointments like you are used to. I think with pretty much all offices you have to wait a little to schedule a consult.

Right ITA w/ previous posts...I think it's a little difficult to get an appointment w/ the doctors but once you are ready to go w/ the bloodwork, etc you'll be there all the time.

Also realize the longer the wait the better the Dr. often.

Most RE's have LONG waits for appointments. If mine didnt, is when I would wonder about them..and why no one is seeing them.

Some Dr's where I went had 3-4 month waits for consults at times.

My advie to you is to find patience, this process is LONG and i guarentee you nothing will happen fas. Its so frustrating but at least you can be prepared for it.

Definitely hang in. Once you get past this consult stage appointments seem to come easy. I have had no problem getting really quick appointments for sonos/biopsies, etc., although i have had to go to Lake Sucess rather than Melville in order to get them quicker or on the days I like - which i don't love, but it's only been twice.

Thanks everyone They called me back and were able to give me an appointment on Monday in Melville instead I guess they had a cancellation or something... so now we're going to go there instead... it's closer AND it's a day sooner!!!!
I'm hoping that I actually get my records from my dr on Friday b/c then I can hand the application in on Monday if Dr. K gives the ok.
I know it's a long process, and I don't mind that- but I just feel like time is being wasted- but I know it's not and this is the right route to go...

Glad to hear you got an earlier appointment. I know it's frustrating. When I found out I was going to m/c, we had to make a follow up appointment with my doctor and the first available appointment was 4 weeks later. Thankfully, since his appointments were getting booked up they were able to open more slots and gave me first dibs on a much earlier appointment.

Just a suggestion though, I would call your RE's office now and request your records. Let them know you will be there on Friday to see the doctor and you would like to pick them up at that time as well. This will give them a few days lead time, and could save you major aggrevation.

I know it's a bit frustrating with scheduling but I do find that I get appointments fastests at the Lake Success office when I see Dr. Brenner. I have never waited longer than a week to see him. Hang in there and once you get going things will run smoothly.

First of all, you are extremely lucky to be able to get appointments so quickly...you have no idea. Consultations are only done during a certain window of the day and you are a new (maybe) patient. So there is very limited space and it usually goes to regular patients first.
When I went to my first RE, I had to wait four months for a consultation.
When I went for other opinions, the wait for a consultation was anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months...and I'm not exageratting.

As AP said, there aren't that many RE's and it's sort of a good thing if you have to wait. Another thought, since you didn't seem to love Dr. K - try consulting with Dr. Brenner or Dr. Droesch, you may like one of them better.

As far as driving to Melville, they don't really do anything except monitoring out of Pt. Jeff anymore, so you will be driving to Melville for any procedures such as IUI, transfers and retrievals....

ETA: Once you are a patient, you will be able to get appointments from day to day...
