FINALLY!!!!

AF finally showed up (three days after my last provera pill). I've been feeling PMS symptoms for over a week. AF just arrived, and I already feel like crap Chat Icon

I will go in on Monday for CD3 blood work and start my injection protocol.

Can you girls fill me in? When do injections usually start (CD5 like clomid?)? I've done two unsuccessful rounds of clomid and we're moving onto injectables this cycle.

Are injections given at night or in the morning? Does it matter? And are injections usually with a full needles or with a pen?

Yeah for AF (how odd- usually we're cursing her Chat Icon ) Chat Icon Chat Icon
What kind of injections are you taking? Do you know? I took gonal-f at night- and it's supposed to be taken in the same 2 hour window each night (I always tried for the same time each night though).
My gonal-f was taken w/ a pen- you dial up the dose, screw on the needle and inject (I always ice the area for like 5 mins first and this way you don't feel anything) Chat Icon Then I put rubbing alcohol on the injection site and let it air dry... You have to leave the needle in for like 5 seconds after the last click to make sure you've got it all in there--- then when you're done you put gauze on the injection site for a couple of minutes. HTH!
Sorry, I forget what CD it starts on- my last cycle it started on CD3- but I was taking BCPs and then lupron before the gonal-f. GL to you!!! Please FM me w/ any questions!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks so much for the info, Shannon Chat Icon
I am praying that I get the pen. It sounds so much easier than using the actual needle with vials. I am still waiting to speak to the doctor to find out exactly what I will be taking and when I will be starting it. I guess I should call and leave a message for my doctor tomorrow so I know what I'm in for. Or should I wait until I go in for CD3 blood and sono (on Monday)?

Re: FINALLY!!!!

Are you doing ivf or iui? My last two cycles I start my stims on CD3. What is your protocol? Are they going to stim you rigt away, or suppress you first with bcp? I would definately call today to let them know it's CD1 and ask them what their protocol is. Did they call in any meds for you?

Re: FINALLY!!!!

They haven't done ANYTHING! I just spoke to the nurse, and she wasn't even sure what meds I was starting (I just called my insurance company to find out what was covered - most are!). I am kind of annoyed. I feel completely uninformed and nervous about this whole thing Chat Icon

Re: FINALLY!!!!

I started Follistim on CD3 one cycle and on CD4 the next. I injected for 8 days both times. DH gave me the shot around 8PM every night. The pen makes it very easy. GL!

Re: FINALLY!!!!

Ok, I don't want to freak you out or anything, but they should know by now what you are doing. I started my injectibles CD3 (though your place could be different). I feel that they should have ordered your meds already. Though they may have a pharmacy near the office that they use that keep whatever you need in stock, you should find out or maybe someone goes to the same RE you go to and can tell you what they do. I used mail order and I had to get them ordered in advanced so they would clear insurance and be delivered on time (b/f my CD3 b/w). Please call them today and make sure that you can have access to your meds on Monday if that is when they are starting you. Before they go home for the day.

Keep us posted.

Re: FINALLY!!!!

I finally spoke to the nurse. I called my insuranc company and both follitism and gonal-f are covered by my insurance (a 90 day supply is only $30). I could do mail order, but since this is last minute, the nurse said I will go in on CD3 (Monday) and if my sono and blood are good, they will fax the paperwork to the pharmacy to have my meds for Monday night. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
