you can't just delete them and then empty your trash folder?

I was looking for this...I cant find it
i don't use aol mail inside the aol program anymore...i just go to aol.com
when you go there---when viewing your old mail---on the left side there is a little click box at the top--click it and it selects all your mail. then on top of that it says "Keep as New......Action......Delete"
click delete -- then on the left hand side is "Recently Deleted" -- and you can "empty" it by clicking on the word empty when you put your cursor over the words Recently Deleted
as far as i knew---i thought it works pretty similiar when you use the AOL program

Above the box that checks off if you read mail there is a box that you can click and it hi-lights all fo them. Click the box and then click delete and they all go away

do you believe it says there are too many too select...
What am I being punished from the AOL police???
